Happy Father's Day! Teresa forgot as usual. Yesterday (Saturday) was a great day! We had a late start again (not Teresa's fault this time). The truck trouble we had on Friday ended up being nothing major. The EGR valve was sticking (carbon build up) and needed to be replace. It was still under warranty. Yeah! The dealership and people (C. Harper Ford) were wonderful. As busy as they were for a Saturday, they bent over backwards to get us back on the road. The young man (Clay) who fixed my truck took the time to give me a lesson on diesel engines, which was mostly Greek to me, but I could not have asked for better service. We were on the road by noon. The weather was awesome and there was very little traffic getting to our next stop. We took the scenic route to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Beautiful countryside with lots of farms from PA to Canton OH. I know we have only been gone two days and have many days and sites ahead of us, but the Hall of Fame was definitely a highlight for me. Forrest and I spent over two hours in there, but I could have stayed another two. When Forrest and I came out, Teresa and Jordan were camped out under a tree in lawn chairs, sipping on cold beverages, and reading books (Jordan working on her AP English - Mrs. France would be proud!). They were looking like the true Griswolds that they are. Sorry I missed that photo opportunity! Speaking of the Griswolds, before we got to the Hall of Fame, we stopped at a McDonalds at a service plaza (rest stop with gas and food) and ate our Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches, chips, and drinks inside. Boy did we get a lot of stares! We arrived at Camp Perry around 8:00 PM. Camp Perry is an Ohio National Guard Base on Lake Erie. It is beautiful. It has a BX and a Beach. Teresa is very happy. Probably why she forgot about Father's Day! This morning we will go to the beach for a couple hours before leaving for our next stop, Rock Island KOA, Illinois. It is a beautiful Sunday morning and I would be remiss if I did not take time out to thank God for all his many blessings, providing this wonderful opportunity, and safe travels thus far. Love to all of our friends and family.
Waiting until time to leave for Sunday School. This is fun. I feel like I am right there with you and your fun family. If you hear someone break out into hysterical laughter, you better turn around. It might be me. Happy Father's Day.
